Clever use of real-time information has transformed vehicular transportation, creating safer and more efficient transport and regional evacuation networks. Likewise, information from sensors and other wireless devices have dramatically altered the way business is conducted in many industries. In this paper, a conceptual framework that exploits data from widely available technolgies in developing continuously updated instructions to evacuees and rescue workers for use in the aftermath of a fire or other emergency circumstances warranting immediate escape from a building and action by first responders is proposed. Open problems are identified.
